Abstract

Cytogenetic investigation was carried out on Marathwadi buffalo by short-term lymphocytes culture technique to study the G-and C-banding patterns. Blood samples were collected from Parbhani Veterinary Polyclinic and adjoing villages of Parbhani. The G- and C-band patterns obtained in the present study helped in identifying almost all the chromosomes. All acrocentric autosomes were Cband positive and all submetacentic chromosomes did not show characteristic C-positive band. The X-chromosome had very prominent C-band at the centromere and it having two interstitial bands. Y chromosome was entirely C-band positive.
