The present study was carried out on 12 apparently healthy horses between 2–8 years of age and weighing 150–340 kg. Midazolam was administered intravenously @ 0.06mg/kg and @ 0.08 mg/kg, five minutes before administration of xylazine (1mg/kg) and ketamine (2mg/kg) intravenously in group I and group II respectively. The effect of midazolam-xylazine-ketamine combination was studied in terms of time of induction, duration of anaesthesia, signs and quality of induction and quality of recovery from anaesthesia. Physiological parameters such as respiration rate, heart rate, and rectal temperature were also recorded.
