Abstract

Variable doses of ketamine hydrochloride in combination with fixed dosage of fentanyl citrate were administered epidurally in 6 dogs and its haemato-biochemical effects were studied. The haematological parameters like PCV, haemoglobin, erythrocyte count and leucocyte count did not show any significant change in any of the three treatment groups. However, lymphocytosis with neutropenia was notice in all the treatment groups. Biochemical parameters, glucose, ALT, ALP, total bilirubin, BUN and creatinine showed significant increase (P<0.05), in all the three treatment groups while there was no significant changes in the serum protein.
