Abstract

A Cow with bilateral fracture of horizontal rami of mandible was brought to the Government Veterinary Polyclinic. The cow had an open septic fracture of left horizontal ramus, close fracture of right horizontal ramus of mandible at interdental space and severe laceration to buccal mucosa. The case was treated with unilateral intra medullary pinning using 3 mm steinmann pin, suturing of the lacerated buccal mucosa and treating the fracture of left mandible as an open septic wound. Uneventful recovery and complete bony union was achieved and the intramedullary pin was removed after 2½ months post operatively.
