The objective of the study was to evaluate Aegle marmelos in the treatment of acute inflammation produced experimentally in rats. For acute studies carrageenin induced rat paw oedema model was used. The animals were treated with aqueous extract of Aegle mannelos with aspirin as standard drug. The percent inhibition of acute inflammation after administration of Aegles marmelos leaves extract (200mg/kg B.W.) was highly significant (p<0.01) compared to aspirin as a standard drug. It was concluded that Aegle mannelos posseses anti-inflammatory activity.
