For the present study caecum and colon from six adult pigs were collected immediately after slaughter at Deonar abattoir, Mumbai. The mucous membrane of the cecum and colon was lined by columnar epithelium with striated border. Some villi were observed at proximal portion of caecum. Lamina propria layer was densely packed with lymphoid follicles. Submucosal layer showed extensive amount of adipose tissue. The mucosal crypts were not so deep, they were not extended in submucosa. Goblet cells were numerous in number vacuolated cells were observed very few. The muscular layer was formed by thick fibro muscular band, the inner muscular layer was obliquely arranged and was not complete, middle was circular and outer longitudinal. Serous layer was observed thicker in caecum and composed of mainly elastic fibers. Muscular layer of colon was formed thick bands called tunica coli. These were mainly composed of elastic fibers. Serous layer was extension of visceral peritoneum and relatively thicker in this species.
