Abstract

the effect of a herbal immunomodulant was studied experimentally on broiler chicks. Day old chicks were divided into 3 groups of 80 each i.e. A (NDV control), B (NDV + IMMUVED), C (Negative Control). Harvested NDV virus (0.2 ml) was administered on 10th day by intra ocular route in group A and B. Birds from virus-inoculated group showed classical clinical signs of Ranikhet disease with 27.50%, 79.00%, 0.00% of mortality in group A, Band C, respectively. Clinical signs were less severe in group B as compared to group A. Birds were sacrificed on day 35. Histologically group A showed severe (+ + +) lesions such as depopulation of lymphocytes and necrotic changes in immunological organs, while Group B showed less severe lesions (+) and Group C did not show any abnormality. Similar findings were observed with regards to production parameters.
