Abstract

Sustainable agriculture backed by green technologies in an integrated farming system has been considered a promising and potential pathway. Rice is the main staple food crop for the majority of the population of the country as well as of Haryana State. Hence, the study was planed to know the attitude of farmers and extension personnel about concept of sustainability as applied to rice cultivation. Almost half of the farmers had their level of attitude at and around the mid point of the scale. This suggests that there is continuing ambiguity about the concept among farmers, which prevents them from polarising their attitude clearly. Therefore, extension organizations should take measures to educate and convince the farmers about the prospects of sustainability. The response of extension personnel on different components of attitude scale was found moderate.
