A survey conducted to study the status of textiles in Uttaranchal, with special reference their designing revealed that the weavers were using mostly traditional designs since decades. Their designs and motifs were influenced by the culture of neighbouring places including that of Tibet, Nepal and China. New designs of textile articles and value addition may be promoted including better methods of fibre processing. Favourable marketing strategies would help develop textile industry in Uttaranchal.
