Abstract

Present study developed a knowledge test on Large Cardamom cultivation that considered its importance for growers and adoption of scientific cultivation practices to bridge the knowledge gap between the farmer and extension worker/researcher and yield gap between potential yield and actual yield obtained by the farmers. The knowledge test was developed following step by procedures which included preliminary screening of the items based on Likert's method through calculation of t-statistics and mean score, followed by the item analyses through derivation of difficulty index, discrimination index and point biserial correlation coefficient. It included twelve items each of which can be measured through two-point scale and a knowledge index can be derived at the end depicting the knowledge level of the Large Cardamom growers. The reliability coefficient of the developed knowledge test was 0.78.
