Abstract

A study was conducted in the Malwa region comprising of Bathinda, Mansa and Muktsar districts of Punjab to study extent of adoption of IDMPs among dairy farmers. A sample comprising 60 trained dairy farmers as an experiment group who got training from Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of study area was selected to study. For control group 60 dairy farmers not trained under these KVKs were selected. The analysis indicated that the practices like artificial insemination (A.I) in animal at the proper time of heat and pregnancy diagnosis between 45–90 days after practicing the A.I. were regularly adopted by the majority of the trained dairy farmers and more than half of the untrained dairy farmers never adopted theses practices. Similarly, majority of the trained farmers (66.67%) followed the feeding of 40-50kg of green fodder to animal regularly Overall extent of adoption of trained and untrained dairy farmers was estimated to be 88.71 and 66.46 respectively. Z-test revealed that there was significant difference between the trained and untrained dairy farmers with respect to adoption of improved dairy management practices. at 0.01 level of probability.
