Farmers’ apathy towards farming and dream of doubling farmers’ income by 2022 stands in two opposite direction. The study was conducted to find out the attitude of the farmers’ towards farming and their economic motivation for increasing farm income. Nalbari district of Assam was purposively selected for the study. An attitude scale and scale on economic motivation were used for collecting data from the farmers of the district. It was found that a large majority (71.67%) of the farmers had moderately favourable attitude towards farming and 13.33% farmers had highly favourable attitude. 68.33 per cent farmers were found with moderate level of motivation and 16.67 per cent possessed high level of motivation.
