In vitro experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of certain treatments over early sprouting and germination rate of sugarcane single bud setts. For this experiment, CoPk 05191, a newly released early ripening variety was selected. The treatments chosen for this experiment was aqueous extract of Azadirachta indica leaves and sodium metasilicate while cane setts dipped in ethereal solution and water acted as control. The study showed that aqueous extract of Azadirachta indica leaves and sodium metasilicate were effective in early germination of cane setts and had higher shoot length in comparison to both water dipped setts as well as of ethereal dipped cane setts.
