Abstract

To study the impact of training programmes organized by KVK, Agwanpur Saharsa, KVK Madhepura, KVK Raghopur Supaul and KVK Khagaria districts of Bihar with objective to assess the knowledge and extent of adoption of improved practices of Rice crop production technology. The training on Rice crop production technology was imparted to randomly selected 400 farmers in the four districts of Bihar by the KVKs located in each of these districts. The post-training knowledge and adoption level of the trainees was compared with that of equivalent homogenous group of non-trainee randomly selected rice growers in the region. Results of the assessment revealed that at the end of training programme trainees were having relatively more knowledge about improved rice production technology (average score) as compared to non-trainees (average score). Similarly, it was also observed that, the level of adoption has also improved among trainees and the number of high level of adopters increased from 5 to 71 per cent. Whereas the proportions of trainees in medium adoption category increased from 27 to 54 per cent. The percent farmers in low adoption category reduced by 41 per cent.
