Effect of Trichoderma viride Against Damping Off Disease in Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) Crop

Abstract

A long-term field study was conducted On Farm Trials (OFTs) in tomato crop of three consecution year, during 2014-2017 to assess efficacy of Trichoderma viride against damping off disease in tomato seedlings under field condition in rabi season. The two treatment (T1 & T2) were compared under the investigation T1 (T. viride was applied in combination of soil treatment @ 10 g/m2 nursery area with decomposed FYM and Seed treatment 5 g/kg seed) and T2 (Soil treatment @ 10 g/m2 nursery area with decomposed FYM, Seed treatment 5 g/kg seed and seedling treatment in 5 g/liter water solution for 15 minutes before transplanting). Results indicated that the combination of soil + seed + seedling treatment with T. viride gave maximum seedling establishment (96.7%) with minimum seedling damage (3.3%) followed by soil + seed treatment, seedling establishment (95.5%) with damage (4.9%) and whereas, in T0 (No treatment) control fields recorded minimum seedling establishment (86.9%) with damage (11.1%). The Treatment T2 produced highest seedling establishment and lowest disease damage (%) was as compared to T1 Treatment.
