Eco-friendly management practices in vegetable cultivation is gaining importance in current era as consumers are much more concerned about their health and quality of the produce. In this paper, authors makes an attempt to formulate strategies for the promotion of eco-friendly management practices for vegetable cultivation in Southern Rajasthan. Strategies has be to formulated depending on the agro-ecosystem, existing livelihood pattern as well as culture of the people living in that area. In each locality, people adopts different livelihood strategies for their existence. Hence in this paper, strategies were developed according to the agro-climatic situation of the Udaipur district of Southern Rajasthan by considering the farmers needs and the environment. Based on the qualitative design, in-depth interviews with the vegetable growers were carried out in the location for getting a clear picture of the study area and about farming systems. This article is an attempt to fill the gap existing in the adoption of eco-friendly technologies by the farmers. In particular, it suggests that, application of various extension methodologies in the study area could help in the promotion of eco-friendly vegetable cultivation and thereby developing a sustainable agriculture production. This findings regarding eco-friendly vegetable cultivation could be relevant to policy makers for the increasing farmers’ income without harming the environment.
