Abstract

Nagore district of north western Rajasthan has sever rates of malnourishment or under nutrition. Also, it was observed that rural households in the region prefer not growing vegetables or fruits at home due water scarcity. This has resulted in poor vegetable and fruit intake in daily diets. Moreover, the ruthless use of chemical pesticides and insecticides are deteriorating the health in long run as well. Even if a few rural families grow vegetables in their backyards for their household consumption, still they lack in adequate consumption of vitamins and minerals because of unorganized cultivation of vegetables. Thus, there was a need to intervene and demonstrate a sustainable model of Nutri garden, so as to full fill year long supply of seasonal vegetables for the household. Thus the present paper aims to highlight the knowledge gain of the partner farm women and their increase in consumption of vegetables after KVK’s intervention.
