The present study was carried out by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bijnor to know the yield gaps between improved package of practices under Front Line Demonstration (FLD) and farmer’s practice (FP) of rice crop. Front line demonstrations (FLDs) were conducted on 30 farmers’ fields to demonstrate the impact of improved techniques of production and economic benefits under the irrigated NWPZ region of Uttar Pradesh during kharif?seasons of two consecutive years i.e. 2015 & 2016. The technologies demonstrated in FLDs recorded additional yield of 11.70 q/ha over farmers practice. Under FLDs the grain yield of rice was increased by 25.77 per cent over FP. The extension gap, technology gap and technology index were calculated as 11.70 q/ha, 17.92 q/ha and 23.89 per cent, respectively. Adoption of improved package of practices in rice cultivation recorded higher B:C ratio (1.63) as compare to FP (1.32). Yield enhancement and higher net returns observed under FLDs of improved technologies in rice. Thus, the productivity of rice could be increased with the adoption of recommended improved package of practices. The present study resulted to convincing the farming community for higher productivity and returns.
