Abstract

India is an abode of large number of dairy cattle and at the same time dominated by energetic and innovative farm youth. Enhancing milk production in this era is a challenging task. Therefore, present study aimed at measuring the attitude of farm youth towards artificial insemination practices so that their attitude can be changed in most favorable direction through appropriate training. The study was conducted in three blocks of Patna district viz. Naubatpur, Fatuha and Patna Sadar. Data collected in face to face situation with the help of structured schedule prepared for purpose. The results indicate that most of the farm youth possessed high level of knowledge, high level of modernization, high level of credit orientation, low herd size of 0-3 cattle and at the same time most favorable attitude towards Artificial Insemination practice. The predictors viz. Knowledge (x2), Occupation (x3), Modernization (x7) and Credit orientation (x9) were found to be positively and significantly correlated with Attitude of farm youth towards Artificial Insemination practices (Y) whereas, Caste (x4) was negatively and significantly correlated with Attitude of farm youth towards Artificial Insemination practices. The implications of results were discussed in the light of fact that favorable attitude of the farm youth towards Artificial Insemination practices as well as high level of credit orientation can be harnessed in providing loan to the farm youth for improving non-descript breeds of cattle and can boost milk production.
