Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of vermicompost, FYM, PSB and inorganic fertilizers on yield and economics in lettuce. The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design with eight treatments replicated thrice. Among the treatments, T7 recorded maximum plant height (14.33, 19.33 and 27.83 cm), maximum leaves per plant (9.67, 17.00 and 28.83), maximum leaf length (16.33, 23.33 and 28.01 cm), maximum leaf breadth (16.17, 21.83 and 27.83 cm), maximum leaf canopy spread (12.38, 21.67 and 29.33 cm) and maximum leaf area (199.52, 346.55 and 542.00 cm2) at 30 DAP (days after planting), 45 DAP and at harvest, respectively. The highest mean performance for fresh weight as well as dry weight of leaves at harvest was observed in the treatment T7 with values 205.33g and 13.82g, respectively. The same treatment T exhibited the highest mean performance for yield per hectare with the value 27.4 t ha-1 however, the highest benefit cost ratio was exhibited by the treatment T4 (2.58).
