Abstract

Juvenile delinquents mean any child who indulges in some form of crimes or illegal activities before completing their maturity. Juvenile delinquency is a social disease for the universe and the problem is more disastrous in India. It is very horrifying condition for any country as it spoils the life of young generation of the country. As in many other countries of the world, the trend in juvenile crime is increasing rapidly in India, too. However, being the densely populated and development oriented country, it is very disastrous for India because it directly affects not only the victim of the crime but also their family, society and country as a whole. Due to various social, economic and family factors of both boys and girls in India engage in various types of antisocial activities such as drug addiction, drug dealing, eve-teasing, sexual offences, extortion, assault, theft, robbery, and sometimes even involved in murders, rape and several other heinous criminal actions. The main objective of this article is to review the available knowledge base on various social, economic and family factors that cause juvenile delinquency in India and also its impacts on the family, society and country. The secondary knowledge sources national and international journals, books, magazines, books, newspaper writing, etc. were utilized and analysed.
