Abstract

Twenty first century is the century of competition. Especially in the field of education, this competition rapidly increased among the students. Everywhere in educational field, there is a tough race to survive in this competitive world. Students always feel a lot of pressure and tension in their academic field as the academic achievement is important for taking decision in future life. This pressure and tension in academic field creates uncontrollable nervousness, stress, and fear among students, called academic anxiety. In the present study, an attempt was made to assess and compare the levels of academic anxiety among 480 students (240 high and 240 low achiever from various streams) studying in Senior Secondary Classes of six different private schools of Ludhiana city. Academic Anxiety Scale developed by Siddique and Rehman (2017) was used to assess the academic anxiety of selected high and low achievers.
