Jute is the most important commercial crop of West Bengal. The jute production technologies are constantly updating to reduce drudgery and to meet the present market needs which leads to enhance productivity and production. The present study was conducted to identify the extent of technological gap present in the adoption of innovative jute production technologies developed and disseminated by Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibres (ICAR-CRIJAF). Data were collected by personal interview method from 160 farmers from villages Kumra and Brahmapur of North 24 Parganas and Nadia districts respectively where ICAR-CRIJAF has disseminated the technologies. Accordingly, the extent of adoption was measured based on their degree of adoption i.e., full adoption, partial adoption and rejection of the jute technologies disseminated by ICAR-CRIJAF. The total respondents were divided into three categories viz. high, medium and low level of adoption following the technique of Cumulative Square Root Frequency method. It was found that majority of the jute growers belong to the lower adoption category followed by high and medium adoption category. It may be concluded that there is immense potentiality of improving the production and productivity of jute fibres with the adoption of innovative jute production technologies developed by ICAR-CRIJAF.
