Jute is known as the ‘golden fibre’ and is one of the longest natural fibre used in several textile industries. But over the past few years the jute enterprise is facing a number of constraints during its cultivation and marketing. The ICAR-CRIJAF had developed the innovative jute production technologies to address such constraints faced by jute growers of West Bengal. The present study was conducted in two villages- Brahmapur and Kumra from the districts Nadia and North 24 Parganas respectively, with an aim to identify and prioritize the major constraints faced by the farmers after adoption of these jute technologies. A total 80 respondents were selected as sample from the study areas, 40 farmers from each village. The major constraints identified and ranked using Garrett Ranking were- uncertainty of climatic conditions, involvement of middlemen, unstable market prices, lack of grass root organisations particularly for jute growers, stem and root rot of jute, insect and pest infestation etc.
