Rice (Oryza sativa), the second most important cereal crop plays a significant role in the livelihood of people of Jammu and Kashmir union territory. There are various Basmati rice varieties cultivated in Jammu district out of which Basmati-370 is the most widely adopted. To find out the extent and level of adoption of public and private sector interventions by Basmati rice producers this study was conducted in Jammu district. Multistage random sampling method was applied for the selection of 200 respondents. It was found that majority of the respondents adopted Basmati-370 variety of rice and area under Basmati rice was found to be highest in G2 (1.72 ha) and least in G3 (0.51 ha). Majority of the rice producers do not used seed treatment in paddy cultivation, Majority of the respondents were having high level of adoption of fields preparation practices, applied FYM, urea and DAP in their rice fields, while the adoption of MOP was low. The insecticide and fungicide use in Basmati rice was low. Therefore, it is suggested to lay out field demonstrations exclusively to demonstrate the efficacy of these practices in improving the yield level of rice.
