Abstract

Cluster Front Line Demonstration (CFLD) on pulses were conducted on kharif pulses namely black gram and green gram with improved technologies against farmer’s practices during 2016-17 to 2020-21 at 26 KVKs of Uttar Pradesh. Demonstration were conducted by KVKs with improved varieties, full package of practices in eight different thematic areas like crop management, disease management, nutrient management, weed management, varietal performance, pest management, resource conservation technologies and farm manuring. The demonstration were conducted on Black gram in 2914.56 ha area (7196 farmers) and 2665.27 ha area (7196 farmers) for green gram. The result showed that improved techniques increased yield over farmers’ practices by significant margins of 15.05 per cent to 39.88 per cent for blackgram and 13.02 per cent to 45.60 per cent in case of green gram. For black gram, the yield gap ranged between 1.40q/ha to 2.81q/ha under different thematic areas. However for green gram, this range was 1.00q/ha to 3.09q/ha. Finding revealed wide technologies gap, which need to bridge by promoting the scientific production and protection technologies across the varied condition of both partially irrigated and rainfed conditions of Uttar Pradesh state.
