Abstract

In this study we evaluate or compare the three web based ICT enabled portal; Agriwatch, Farmers Portal and Rice Knowledge Management Portal. In this we used qualitative approach for analysis. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the extent of its accessibility to the user for retrieving the agricultural information and services. It includes two parts, first content inventory, in this the entire content of the portal was catalogued and second is content mapping, it is a graphical representation or abstraction of the site content in which linear type of content mapping was done. It is found from the study that all the three Agriportals had content options like Home, About Us, Login, Website Policy, Disclaimer Cultivation Practices, Market Intelligence, Packages of Practices, Photographs, Featured News, SMS Alert Facility to Registered User and Subscription common in them. The study result clearly indicates that Farmers portal content has more diversity in terms of more links, search options and other retrieval interface, followed by Rice Knowledge Management Portal and Agriwatch portal, which has comparatively less links search and retrieval interface.
