The present study was purposively conducted in districts Bandipora and Baramulla of Kashmir valley having a maximum number of women self-help groups engaged in vermicompost production. All the members of women self-help groups engaged in vermicompost production in the Bandipora and Baramulla districts were selected for the present study. District Bandipora comprises of 7 self-help Groups from 7 villages having 70 members and district Baramulla comprises of 4 self-help Groups from 4 villages having 37 members. A total of 107 members of 11 self-help groups engaged in Vermicompost Production from district Bandipora and district Baramulla were selected for the present study. The interview schedule was developed for collecting information of independent and dependent variables. Majority of women self-help group members belong to middle age group. Majority of women self-help group members’ illiterate, having large family with more than 5 members in the family and had small size land holding (less than 5 kanals). Majority of the women self-help group members had less income (less than rupees 20,000) and had high (above 6 years) experience in vermicomposting. Majority of the women self-help group members had low sources of information, had medium economic motivation and had medium level of knowledge.
