Contact methods utilisation of agricultural extension personnel for transfer of technology in Kashmir

Abstract

Since traditional olden days till present social media world, information were processed and shared by various contact methods in order to reach the farmers with a full-fledged practical and theoretical knowledge. Simply, information is everywhere and with everybody. In this point of view, this study about contact methods utilisation of Agricultural Extension Personnel for transfer of technology was held in 2020 in three agricultural offices which were selected in purposive manner at sub-division level notably Sopore, Rohama and Baramulla in Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir (U.T.). Among Extension personnel at sub-division level, almost all Agricultural Assistants Inputs (AAI’s), Subject Matter Specialists (SMS’s), Junior Agricultural Extension Officers (JAEO’s), Agricultural Extension Officers (AEO’s) and Agricultural Extension Assistants (AEA’s) had been selected for primary data collection with the aid of properly designed interview schedule. The findings revealed that for each component of methods utilisation, significant majority (80.58%) of personnel had high range of individual method utilisation; most (58.99%) of personnel had medium range of group method utilisation; most (59.71%) of personnel had medium range of mass method utilisation. Finally, when it pertains to overall methods utilisation, significant majority (56.84%) of extension personnel had medium range of method utilisation.
