Abstract

The present study was conducted to know the various constraints faced by rural women in carrying on a dairy enterprise in Ludhiana district of Punjab State. A simple random sampling technique was used in the selection of dairy farm women. The total sample constitutes 120 dairy farm women from Jagraon and Sudhar blocks of Ludhiana district. The selected respondents were interviewed personally with the help of a pre tested and well structured interview schedule to obtain information. They were actively pursuing dairy farming but were facing many problems and constraints with regard to feeding management, health care, clean milk production and milk marketing. Moreover managing routine activities like grazing animals, record maintenance, fodder collection etc. were not easy for them. In addition accessing loans or credit from banks and associating with extension personnel was also difficult for them.
