This study examined the procedures for creating and standardizing a scale to measure farmers’ attitudes towards the lavender crop in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory’s Doda district using Rensis Likert’s Summated Rating technique (1932). The scale was made out of the final 13 items chosen from the original 32 items, where positive and negative statements were grouped on a continuum with five points. Strongly agree, agree, uncertain, disagree, and strongly disagree were the five points that made up the scores of 4, 3, 2, 1 and 0 for positive statements and 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 for negative statements. The scale’s validity and reliability show that the results are accurate and consistent. The split-half method was used to test the scale’s reliability, and the reliability coefficient was 0.86. With suitable modifications, this scale can be used to assess farmers’ attitudes outside the research area.
