The study entitled “Creating awareness among farm women regarding climate change” was aimed at studying the impact of an intervention on awareness level of 100 randomly selected farm women from Ludhiana district of Punjab. Data was collected before and after the intervention through structured interview schedule Intervention consisted of lectures, demonstrations and exhibitions. The findings revealed that before intervention, majority of the women were either not aware or somewhat aware of the indicators. Most of them knew that change in water level was one of the indicators of climate change. Through intervention awareness was created regarding other indicators which led to increase in awareness level. Large percentage was not aware of the climate variables which influence crop production but after intervention majority were fully aware that use of pesticides, increase in infestation of pest and diseases were the climate change variables which affected crop production. Post intervention, all women were found to have level of awareness regarding causes of climate change even though majority of them were earlier unaware of them. Before intervention very few were aware about adaptation strategies to combat climate change but after intervention majority of them were aware that reducing energy consumption by switching to LED bulbs, reducing soil erosion through plantation, use of soil health cards, adoption of crop rotation and intercropping can help to combat changes in the climate. Intervention helped to increase awareness level regarding different aspects.
