A Study on Readability of Handy Mobile Apps for Farmers

This is a virtual era having heavy information freight. Farmers are confused regarding the use of relevant information and pertinent sources of information as mobile apps, portals and websites. Many information providers want to attract the audience, viewers and provide the information either irrelevant or for their own sake benefits. As a result farmers receiving wrong information or not comprehending the information. Farmers want right information at right time so that they can get benefits. In this information era, Mobile app is one of the important communication tool provide relevant information in simple language. Government, various Universities, Institutions and Private organizations have launched different mobile apps related to farming. Readability is very important aspect with the user’s point of view in any ICTs tool. Thus, present research investigation was carried out in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand in 2022 to analyze the readability scores of mobile app viz; Crop Doctor and Krishify. The results revealed that overall readability score of Crop Doctor Agricultural app calculated using Gunning Fog Index is 8.6329 and for Krishify mobile app readability score is recorded as 6.6913.
