The present study focuses on the effect of X-Ray pre-treatment on mustard seeds for oil milling yield. Three passes of mustard samples were conducted through a machine, with one being a controlled sample without X-Ray pre-treatment and the others being pre-treated with 4V and 10V voltage respectively. The weight of the samples, moisture content and oil extracted were measured and recorded. The results showed that the maximum amount of oil was extracted from the sample pre-treated with 4V voltage. The oil extracted from this sample had a dry basis percentage of 37.04 per cent which was higher compared to the controlled sample (10.54%) and the sample pre-treated with 10V voltage (36.02%). These findings suggest that X-Ray pre-treatment has a positive effect on oil milling yield, with 4V voltage being the most efficient in increasing the yield.
