Analysis of Income Generation Activities Undertaken by Rural Women in Punjab

Income generation means gaining or increasing income. There are many types of IGA that can be undertaken by rural women. The present study was conducted to analyze the income generating activities undertaken by rural women in Punjab state. A total of 200 respondents were selected from five-agro climate zones of Punjab. Data were collected through an interview schedule. It was found that large percentage of continuers were engaged in garment construction and among discontinuers in dairy and processing. Majority of the respondents were continuers out of those large percentage were sustaining from the last 8-14 years. Majority of both types were independently functioning. Large proportion of respondents used their own savings for initial investment.
