Abstract

A study was conducted during the year 2022 in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir to analyze the farmer’s perception of Agro-met Advisories Services (AAS) in terms of social economic benefit, awareness of beneficiaries and the services provided by District Agro-met Unit (DAMU), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Reasi. For this purpose, random samples of 90 farmers were selected from 9 blocks namely: Katra, Reasi, pouni, Arnas, Thuroo, Bhamag, Panthal, Gulabgarh and Mahore having different agroclimatic conditions. The data was collected by using individual schedules from 90 farmers which were the beneficiaries of Agro-met Advisories Services (AAS). It was found that education and the age of farmers played a vital role in this survey in acquiring knowledge about weather base agricultural activities. The study revealed that 42 percent of young age (27-40 years) and 31 percent of those whose education qualification is higher secondary level are preferable to adopt AAS. During the survey, it was found that the majority of the land is unirrigated. Therefore, among the various weather parameters, 100 per cent of farmers perceive that rainfall is essential for crop production. Agriculture was the main source of income for farmers and the majority of the farmers (62 per cent) income was raised up to Rs.1lakh/ha after the agro-advisory services intervention.
