Assessment of Knowledge, Adoption and Constraints Faced by the Farmers About Organic Farming Practices in Koshi Region of Bihar

The study was undertaken to obtain information about knowledge level and to ensure the adoption behaviour of farmers about organic farming practices. The study also examines the constraints faced by farmers in organic farming practices in Koshi region of Bihar. Study found that majority of growers had medium to high level of knowledge. Study also revealed that majority of respondents had medium level of adoption of organic farming practices followed by low and high adoption level about organic farming practices. Major constraints faced by farmers are Lack of special administrative setup to promote organic farming, lack of awareness regarding price and availability of organic food in people and controversy among family members regarding organic farming respectively. It is concluded that there is need to promote organic farming practices by the government and private agencies for the improvement of knowledge level of farmers.
