Sustainability is defined as avoidance of the depletion of natural resources for maintaining ecological balance. Sustainability is the potential to remain and grow without damaging natural resources for the future use. The United Nations has defined sustainable development as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. A sustainable product is constructed from renewable resources and is easily decomposed without harming environment. The present research paper focus on application of microencapsulation technique for development of jute seed bags which are biodegradable also. In the study, first jute fabric microencapsulated with neem oil microcapsules afterwards, seed bags were prepared from microencapsulated jute fabrics. Tuhar seeds (VPKAS-120) stored in control bag and treated bag under standard condition and efficacy of treated bag was checked against Callsobruchus chenisis and Sitophilus oryzae. It was found that significant difference was found between dead pests present outside and inside the treated bag. It was found in the current study that jute bag treated with Neem oil was found effective against pest.
