The study was conducted in the Hisar district of Haryana state. From five villages total 200 respondents were selected. The findings indicate a significant improvement in the perceived status of Scheduled Caste families in Hisar over the past decade, specifically in terms of income, employment, education, healthcare, and social-status. The majority of SC families reported an increase in household income, credit availability, loan repayment, household assets, and training and skill development opportunities. Education and healthcare status also improved substantially, with most aspects of social-status showing improvement. Additionally, there was a considerable improvement in untouchability, caste-based atrocities, and the attitude of superior castes towards SC families. However, the study also noted that inter-caste marriages and participation in Panchayats remained a taboo.
