Abstract

Scientific sheep husbandry integrates modern research and best practices to optimize the health, welfare, and productivity of sheep populations. Assessing the attitudes of sheep farmers towards scientific sheep husbandry helps ensure the adoption of practices that prioritize the health and well-being of sheep, leading to improved productivity and sustainability in the industry. The Likert-type scale was developed to measure the attitude of farmers towards scientific sheep husbandry. Initially, a total of 45 statements were collected; after editing the statements following Edward’s 14 informal criteria the 27 items were retained. Further, item analysis was done and t value was calculated for each statement. Using the split-half method, the reliability coefficient of the scale was determined as 0.924. The content validity index for the overall scale (S-CVI) was calculated as 0.908. Thus, standardized attitude scale towards scientific sheep husbandry was developed consisting of 20 items.
