Situation specific and problem centered measurement of knowledge level of the crop — horti — livestock farming systems of arid region of western Rajasthan

Different Agri — Horti - Livestock and component taken for the study. Agri component comprises bajra, moong bean, moth bean, cluster bean in kharif and chickpea, wheat, isabgoal, mustard, fennel, jeera in rabi crops in livestock component among large Ruminants buffalo, cow, camel and among small ruminant sheep, goat among horticulture component Vegetable cachri, tinda, onion, kakri, Loki Fruit pomegranate, date palm, ber, mooringa, ker, sangri. Most of the farmers in Jaisalmer are following mono-cropping system either they are following horticulture or they going for crops and livestock or sole crops or sole horticulture and livestock are not common similarly sole livestock was not common other than Jaisalmer city. Knowledge level of the 75 farmers of crop-horti-livestock will be measured by data collection Schedule. Agri — Horti - Livestock farmers were selected from five tehsils of Jaisalmer, Mohangarh, Pokaran, Bhaniyana, Falsund. Socio-economic data were collected from the farmers through the data collection schedule based on the socioeconomic study of the knowledge level of the farmers. Total 75 farmers 15 each from each tehsil were taken to measure knowledge test/index. Most of the farmers were fell in the medium knowledge level category remaining were fell in the low to higher level category in all. Agri — Horti - Livestock in Crops jeera, isabgoal, wheat, mustard chickpea was taken while in livestock cow, buffalo, camel, goat and sheep were studied while in horticulture crops date palm, pomegranate, ber, watermelon, ker, sangria, kachari, and kakari were taken for study. Knowledge test was used to measure the knowledge level of the farmers. Mean and standard deviation was used to categorize the farmers in low medium and high category.
