Abstract

A novel idea that addresses the differences in resources and workforce engagement between male and female farmers is a gender disaggregated study in agriculture. Understanding the varied roles and responsibilities that male and female farmers play in various agricultural, allied and home activities is essential to addressing gender issues. The study was conducted in north eastern state of Tripura and the sample size of the research work is 160 male and 160 female farmers. This research focuses on the Constraints faced by male and female farmers in the rice farming system. The goals of the research were achieved through the use of an independent sample t-test. The outcome shows that significant differences in financial, production, extension, labour, postharvest, situational, and gender-related constraints between male and female farmers, but there is no significant difference in marketing constraints between male and female farmers. Based on the median value male farmers face more financial problems than females and both genders have equal problems in production and marketing. Female farmers experience more challenges in areas such as extension, labour, postharvest, situational and gender-related issues.
