Abstract

Citrus fruits are a significant horticultural crop globally, with 10 per cent of India’s total fruit growing area, only behind bananas and mangos in terms of production. Haryana is rapidly emerging as an important player in India’s horticultural industry, with citrus cultivation gaining traction as a lucrative endeavour. Diversifying land use, providing higher returns per unit area, creating jobs, and meeting nutritional needs have all been demonstrated benefits of this sector. The article drew upon secondary information thorough a comprehensive analysis of the opportunities and challenges associated with citrus cultivation in Haryana, as well as an assessment of the overall effect on farmer’s socio-economic welfare. Essentially, the aim was to present a thorough examination of the multifaceted aspects of citrus cultivation in India, with a special emphasis on Haryana.
