Abstract

The most prevalent issues in today’s environment that have a direct or indirect impact on people’s mental health are stress, anxiety, and depression. Therefore, the goal of the current study was to evaluate and compare the stress, anxiety, and depression levels of married and single women in Kanpur Nagar. Using snowball sampling, 120 women between the ages of 25 and 45 were chosen as a sample. The Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21) and Kuppuswamy SES were used in the data gathering process to examine psychological characteristics. The results show that single women had much higher levels of stress, anxiety, and depression than married women do. The results of the analysis indicate that these mental health outcomes are highly influenced by background characteristics such as age, education, employment position, and socioeconomic status. The research highlights the necessity of focused mental health interventions and policies that take into account a woman’s marital status and personal history in order to alleviate the increased psychological anguish experienced by single women.
