The present study was undertaken to study the causes and symptoms of work-related stress among bank employees in Ludhiana city of Punjab state, India during February-March, 2023. Snowball technique was used for selecting nationalized banks. Bank employees, of the rank of Probationary officer and above, from all the selected banks were contacted for data collection. A questionnaire was prepared on Google form and was circulated and a total of 280 responses were received. Results revealed that all the respondents shared cordial relationship with their co-workers but were suffering from some level of work related stress. More than 90 per cent of the respondents considered extra working hours and frequent system error as major stress causing factors and 76.78 per cent respondents agreed that there is blaming culture in their bank. Majority of the respondents “sometimes” encountered various stress causing incidents like conflict with customers/clients, conflict with colleagues, conflict with higher officials/management, confusion at work, personal life problems bothering at work, feeling isolated at workplace, fear of loss of job, work issues bothering at home. Headache, fatigue, poor concentration, digestive disorder and low blood pressure were some of the symptoms which were “often” experienced by most of the respondents due to work related stress.
