Backyard poultry farming with improved breeds of poultry is gaining popularity as a potential tool to eradicate malnutrition and provides subsidiary income in rural and tribal areas. Many of the institute provides training to the farmers and youth regarding poultry farming but they lack standardised tool to measure their knowledge level in this aspect. Thus, an attempt has been made to develop a knowledge test regarding scientific backyard poultry farming. The standardised knowledge test has 24 items. The Spearman Brown formula (0.885) and Cronbach’s alpha (0.846) were used to measure the test’s reliability. The overall test content validity index was 0.91. The test’s reliability and validity are indicators of its consistency and precision in the results. The developed test will help in assessing the knowledge level of farmers and youth regarding scientific backyard poultry farming.
