An improvement over estimation of total livestock population in integrated sample survey scheme

In the present article, an effort has been made to develop a survey based approach for establishing estimates of livestock production which is an improved alternative of Integrated Sample Survey (ISS) Scheme. The theoretical variances of the regression estimator and Horvitz-Thompson estimator along with ratio estimator which is not mentioned in ISS scheme are discussed. Empirical evaluation has been carried out to show the relative performance of the regression estimator over the traditional ratio estimator of livestock population using the real survey data.
