The capacity for responsible behaviour is a sign of social maturity. Social maturity, which is required for successful societal adaptation, is extremely important for the future success of the children. Since adolescence is the time when a person begins to established their identity and exhibit adult behaviour. Social maturity is a crucial component for both the individual and society. The present study was conducted to find out the relationship between social maturity and gender differences in urban and rural adolescents. The purposive sample of 100 adolescents consisting (50 Boys, 50 Girls) from Bikaner city of Rajasthan state. The Nalini Rao’s Social Maturity Scale used for data collection and Mean, SD, and the t-test were used to withdraw meaningful inferences of collected data. The results revealed that female adolescents had comparatively better social maturity than male. Significant differences were found in total social maturity scores (Z=14.27**, p<0.01) of rural and urban adolescents. Further findings reflected that urban areas’ adolescents had better social maturity on various aspects.
