The present study was conducted in randomly selected Majalgoan, Parali and Wadwani tehsils of Beed district of Marathwada region in Maharashtra state. Twelve villages from each tehsils and three women members from each Grampanchayat were selected randomly. Total 36 villages from three tehsils were selected to comprise total sample of 108 respondents. The information was collected with the help of structured interview schedule. Majority of women member were young, educated up to primary school level, living in small size family, low cosmopoliteness, and having poor mass media exposure. Most of the respondents belonged to high socio-economic status, medium social participation, medium work experience and having medium level of role performance. It was inferred that the relationship between independent variables namely education, cosmopoliteness, mass media exposure, socio-economic status and work experience of the respondents had highly significant positive effect on role performance. However, the relationship between age, size of family and social participation were having significantly negative effect on role performance. Study led to the conclusion that majority of the women member of Grampanchayat exhibited medium role performance in Grampanchayat activities. State Government may organize training program to realize their actual role and position in Grampanchayat.
