Extent of Professional Competencies Developed Under Textile and Apparel Designing Courses of Home Science Graduate Programme in State Agricultural Universities: A Study of Rajasthan

Abstract

Textile & Apparel Designing (TAD) is one of the most important area of Home Science programme. It assists the students in selection, construction, care, upkeep & storage of family clothes. In present study an effort was made to assess the opinion of B.Sc.(Home Sc.) graduates of SAUs regarding development of competencies through TAD courses and suitability of the courses for various jobs in-view of stakeholders. The present study was conducted in Home Science colleges of SAUs Rajasthan. Questionnaire technique was used for data collection. Findings of the study reveal that 55.7 percent competencies were moderately and 39.1 percent were highly developed in core courses of TAD. They also perceived that competencies in vocational courses of both colleges were adequately developed. The stakeholders reported that there are many job opportunities in their organization but they should made aware in terms of capability and deemed.
